One thing is for sure: the market is constantly changing. The key is STAYING AHEAD of it. How? I do it by being informed, aware, flexible, and open to change.
The creative strategies that I employed at the bottom of the market when every other home was a short sale and the economic outlook was bleak are obviously starkly different from the strategies I employed during rah-rah times when even the most decrepit home was guaranteed to receive multiple offers. And, of course, the definition of a successful transaction is quite different in such different markets. Thus, I custom tailor my strategies to my clients’ objectives, with a keen awareness of the market we are operating in. That means taking myriad variables into consideration including larger economic trends, seasonality, and neighborhood-specific news. For sellers, it means assistance with home preparation, professional photography, advertising and specialized marketing that incorporates a strong social media presence.
Working with buyers and sellers alike, I never underestimate the importance of truly knowing our counterparts. In other words, who are the agent and buyer or seller sitting across the metaphorical table from us, these people with whom we are meant to cooperate in order to make a mutually successful transaction? My objective is to treat all parties fairly.
As a member of the John L. Scott relocation team since 2010, I have served countless international and domestic executive transferees employed by organizations as diverse as Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks, L’Oreal, McDonalds, and the US State Department. Having experienced the client side firsthand when I moved to Seattle in 1996 as part of a Microsoft relocation, I’m particularly sensitive to the complexities of corporate relocation. I was born in Uruguay. When I was a little girl, my parents came to the U.S. seeking The American Dream. They eventually became proud U.S. citizens, homeowners, and eventually even landlords. They taught me to have a strong work ethic and they taught me that home ownership is a big piece of The American Dream.
I grew up in Connecticut and lived in Boston until 1996, when I came to the Seattle area as part of a Microsoft relocation. I have been a homeowner in the beautiful northern part Sammamish since then.
Loves of my life, apart from real estate, include my wonderful husband, Nick, who is a former chef (lucky me), my brilliant and idealistic daughter, Peri, who is a junior at Occidental College in Los Angeles and who graduated from The Overlake School, and my brilliant and talented son, John, who is a freshman at Lewis and Clark in Portland and who graduated from Eastlake HS in Sammamish. As their mom, I’ve learned a thing or two and I’ve gained an intimate knowledge of both the public and private schools in the area. I also dote on my three cats (don’t judge) and my bird: Birman champion and former queen Foo Foo, screwball Birman Ned who has his own Instagram following, 24 lb Maine Coon Rocco, and parakeet Reg. In my free time I love hot yoga, Orangetheory, hiking, eating great food, traveling, traveling specifically for the purpose of eating great food, design, meditation, and reading everything I can get my hands on.
Redmond, Washington, is probably best known as the home of Microsoft. But if that’s all you know about our gem of a city, you’re missing a lot. Marymoor Park, which hosts concerts in the summer, also features a climbing rock, sports fields, a cricket pitch, a huge off-leash dog park, tennis courts, a community garden and an outdoor theater. Redmond is also home to more than 17 miles of hiking and biking trails. Known as the bicycle capitol of the Northwest, Redmond is home to the state’s only velodrome and each July, the city hosts a bike race around Lake Sammamish. This race is part of Redmond Derby Days, which also includes a parade, live entertainment, a carnival with rides, and fireworks at dusk. The top-notch schools in Redmond draw a lot of families to our community. And our library is world-class, the second largest in the King County Library System. Redmond itself is home to restaurants, breweries and shopping to rival any major city, but if you are craving the bustle, both Seattle and Bellevue are a few minutes away.
